Even though high pressure has been keeping conditions firm, Kip had an idea for a traverse from Sawtooth into Little Granite Creek, down Peak 8620′ into Scotch Creek, then down Ruby. I thought it was a great idea. After strategic rig shuttling we began the slog up Falls Creek to Sawtooth.
Conditions were firm to icy all day and we found skinning to be a struggle. Bootpacking was the preferred option. Especially with the crampons we didn’t bring.
After Sawtooth we skinned through Little Granite Creek and climbed Peak 8620′.
Skinned under Benthos Buttress enroute to Ruby.
Final chute of the day, Kip heading into the choke of the Pearl. Even though we had firm conditions it was a blast to get out of the inversion and ski some neat lines!
