East side of Hurwal. Skied the mostly hidden bowl in the upper right

You get an awesome view of Hurwal Divide from the Imnaha highway, and every time I see it I think of how good the skiing must be up there. At 9,776′ the northern peak of the divide is the seventh highest in Oregon, which sweetens the pot a bit.

Ran across a set of tracks which I can only guess are   wolverine. Anybody with a better eye ID these tracks?

The skiing was pretty good. The first 100' was rock hard, then turned to a few inches of enjoyable pow for the rest of the 2500' descent

Bonneville Mountain, Snake Farm Couloir

I’m not sure if this couloir has a name, if anyone knows let me know. In the meantime I’m calling it “Snake Farm”, due to its serpent like appearance. A stretch of warm weather has done wonders to strengthen the snowpack and I’ve been taking advantage of it. This shot was one of the best runs I’ve had this season. 3″-4″ of creamy powder on a sustained pitch, blue skies, no wind, and beautiful scenery everywhere. Can’t ask for much more. Continue reading
